One Quick Thingβ¦
Amazon Warehouse Robots
I thought this was interesting, yet, Iβm also sceptical that it is completely accurate.
Allegedly, Amazon now has over 750,000 robots deployed. Each robot packer at a warehouse can replace 24 workers. Packers cost $1 million each which only takes two years to recoup the cost. I say allegedly becauseβ¦ that would be close to $750,000,000,000 (three-quarters of a trillion dollars) that Amazon has invested in robotsβ¦ and would mean that a human packer only costs them around $25,000 per yearβ¦ Amazon says packing robots are still being developed because currently with smaller items humans still do a better job (phew)β¦ and, surely, 750,000 robots would need a small army of highly-skilled maintenance people to, well, maintain themβ¦ unless Amazon has robots for that tooβ¦
